I am an abstract painter, specializing in acrylics on textured canvases. I came to the visual art world later in life by way of music, performing, and writing. I'm a self-taught artist who fell in love with the medium by literally painting the walls of my house with invigorating and sensual treatments, my version of faux finishes. I decided a few years ago to transfer that joy of painting onto canvases, and relatively quickly came up with a unique style that I am pleased to be identified with. I am known for saying that I cannot draw a straight line, which is what brought me into abstracts.
Not only do I offer my paintings and prints for sale, I turn them into cool products like scarves, purses, high heels, and swimsuits for the woman who likes to stand out. A subset of my work is called Team Spirit Reimaged, which involves creating abstracts from the official colors of sports teams and once again turning them into accessories for fans who want anything other than another logoed item.
INSPIRATION - Current artistic influences include John Beckley, Gino Savarino, and Andy Morris, but my heart will always belong to Phil Ponder, who most decidedly knows how to draw a straight line. Other inspirations are song titles and lyrics. A good lyric can be a great title for a painting!
TECHNIQUES I have found great success with utilizing what I call the "Home Depot" approach to painting: all tools and products I use (with the exception of canvases) come from my favorite home supply store. I am known for the texture that I add to my acrylic paintings.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
